Well Henry, the time is coming soon! Baby sister will be here in weeks or even just days from now. Mommy is 37 weeks and 2 days pregnant already and this blog entry is really for baby. So little lady, here goes:
Oh my sweet, little girl...where to begin? So daddy and I have seen pictures of you from our ultrasounds and you have been growing right on track and have had great heartbeats at each appointment and by all accounts a healthy baby girl in there. Mommy, however, has had it a little rough ;( From the beginning mom has had some nausea, fatigue and headaches and, (especially if you ask daddy), has been emotional and even a little on the crabby side. It's probably a little to do with the fact that Henry is a very busy toddler that doesn't go to daycare so mom is on his schedule totally and not a pregnant mommy schedule. Also, mom failed her glucose test and at 29 weeks pregnant was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Since then has been checking sugar levels 4 times a day (finger pokes) and checking for ketones in urine every other morning. So far we have been keeping it under control with diet (not too many sweets, or breads, or fruits) which is very good. You will need a minimum of 3 heal sticks to check your sugar after birth which breaks mom's heart but hopefully then the saga will be over. One last thing, at the 3 D ultrasound that Grandma got us, the tech said that you were breech but we didn't think twice about it. Then at your 34 week appointment, the midwife thought so too, so mommy began doing a silly exercise once a day called "inversion" to see if that would get you to flip. At the 36 week check, the midwife brought the ultrasound machine in and sure enough, you were still breech! Yikes! So the exercises have been increased to 3-4 times a day, flash lights and gentle noise once a day to mom's lower belly and cold bag of pees on the top of it once a day. We have even tried acupuncture This crazy, hippy thing called moxibustion. Today, daddy and mom went into the doctor and even tried an external cephalic version. It was quite and uncomfortable procedure where the Doctor turned you from the outside but guess what? It worked! For 2 minutes and then you flipped back. You are mom and dad's little stinker. Mom trhinks you are just demanding our attention so it's not all about big brother ;). This week we will try a chiropractor and hope for the best. Otherwise we schedule one more version attempt at 39 weeks and if it works, induce right away and if not do a c section that day. If we go into labor before that then it's a c section but breech babe's dont usually go into early labor. Here are some pictures of mom's crazy interventions and of your digs (you will be in mom and dad's room for at least 6 months and maybe longer if you are anything like your big bro). XOXO Hadley Elizabeth (we think ;).
