Henry, you are a big brother!

Oh our little Henry, how your life has changed over the past few days. Baby sister is finally here and mommy and daddy are home from the hospital and Grandma and Grandpa have gone home. We continue to get visitors almost daily though and you love it! You think that everyone is coming to say hi and to visit with you and you take every moment to 'ham it up,' in front of all our guests. Your latest, funny, Henry move is walking around with your eyes closed, and you have also taken up galloping. Both, equally hilarious. As for your response to Hadley? You mostly ignore her. It bothers you when she cries (which luckily isn't often). And you get a little frustrated that mommy cant pick you up or spend as much time with you but otherwise you are loving life with daddy here all day and all the company. We are so proud of you buddy!

Hadley's first 10 days

Well baby Hadley, you have been here with us now for 10 whole days. We wonder what you think of us? We sure know what daddy, Henry, mommy, and anyone else that meets your thinks of you. We all think that you are a total sweetie that pretty much sleeps all the time. Oh, and that you are very cute! You also are a great eater (every 1.5-3 hours, and have already had two great nights that you slept for 4 hours in a row)! You have a little awake period every morning for about an hour, and in the evening we try to encourage you to do the same but otherwise you love your newborn beauty sleep. You have had a two sponge baths here at home (not your favorite), and take your vitamin every eve (you don't mind it), and we have also started to try a little tummy time every day (you don't mind that either ;). You have had a visit from the public health nurse and your first well baby check up and you get gold stars all around! Never a concern for jaundice or anything else except for a little redness on your tiny bottom from your hourly poops ;). And you are gaining weight too! We discharged from the hospital Friday at 6 lbs., 15 oz., and on Monday the public health nurse weighed you in at 7 lbs, 3 1/2 oz., and now today, at your well baby check up, you weighed 7 lbs, 9 1/2 oz.!   Aside from that, your days consist of snuggles with mommy and daddy, and an occasional "hi," from brother (Henry, your great, blog to come), and visitor after visitor (visitor blog to follow). Here are a few pics from your first few days. Welcome!

Hadley's Birth Story

This is Nate, your daddy. Your mommy and I have been writing a blog to your brother Henry for almost two years now and the time has come for you to be a part of it. This is how you came into the world, our beautiful daughter.
I would like to start this story of yours beginning a couple of weeks ago. You were breech in Mommy's tummy and we scheduled an external cephalic version (a procedure to try and manual turn you around in Mommy's uterus from the outside). You flipped right around! About 10 minutes later you decided it wasn't the place for you and right back you went, your little head resting on Mommy's ribs. Your mommy and I thought, shoot, now what. We scheduled to have another version on the 12th of February. If it worked, the doctors would induce Mommy and we would have you right there. If it didn't, we were to schedule a c-section for February 20th. The 12th turned out to be a long and amazing day. I'll go over the long part here quickly and get to the amazing part shortly. We went in at 9:40am to do the version. They told us if it works, we will induce but we will have to wait 7 hours until more staff comes in. We decided that was way to long to wait and asked if we could come back later and try. They said sure. We came back to the hospital at 5:30 pm to do the version. Your aunt Meredith came with us. After two attempts of a version your mommy and the doctors agreed that you just were not going to spin around. Mommy and I made the decision to see if we could get a c-section that very night. To our relief, they agreed. Mommy got prepped for surgery and your aunt Meredith and I got ready to take pictures for when you arrived. I was pretty nervous about the whole thing but I think I did a pretty good job at not letting your mommy know. The doctors and nurses told us your mommy was ready and we went into the operating room. About ten minutes went by and here is the amazing part, we got to meet you. I am sitting here in our room in the hospital looking at you sleep next to Mommy. You are so beautiful. My two beautiful girls. Welcome to the family Hadley.
Stats: 7lbs. 6 oz. Length 20 inches.
